The bioluminescent plankton, a more than magical experience

Have you ever seen pictures of people in the water and in the dark, intourare circles of blue, red or green lights? Have you never been intrigued by this phenomenon? Well me my curiosity was at the maximum!

In Krabi you can live one of Thailand's most magical experiences, swimming among thousands of white sparks: in luminescent plankton!

But how is this possible?

Bioluminescent plankton can glow in the dark, "organic" means "life" and "lumin" means "light". When the light is dim, all you need to do is shake the water with your hands and millions of microorganisms all light up together.

Why is it bright?

Plankton is, as you may know, the first link in the ocean food chain. To multiply, they need heat. This light allows them to be better seen fish that, attracted by bioluminescence, swallow it. Once in the belly of the fish, they develop more easily.

What about the experience itself?

I was all excited that I was going to see this phenomenon with my own eyes. Neither one nor two I am in the water, ready to stir and take full eyes. I start to move energetically arms and legs and there, the light was on!

My opinion

It was incredible, tiring to have to move so much but so incredible! A moment that was difficult to capture in a photo but that I will never forget!
