Ecology & Restoration of the Mangrove
per person
Travel through the mystical mangrove swamp to discover the unique ecological features of this important ecosystem and participate in restoration activities.
The program:
Our marine biologist takes you aboard for a day of discovery and learning about tropical mangrove ecosystems, their conservation and associated livelihoods.
This activity is suitable for families, including children, as we offer practical and fun learning sessions throughout the day. We start our day kayaking through the thick mangroves of Koh Klang, stopping along the way to climb up to a large cave located on the side of a limestone mountain. Our marine biologist will use interactive and fun learning materials to communicate his knowledge about this unique ecosystem.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will meet our afternoon hosts who will introduce us to local mangrove restoration activities and awareness of their community leadership. We will learn which species can grow in different tidal zones, how to plant them and how to monitor their survival. We will participate in the planting of seeds and collect new ones. Interaction with local fishermen
and children in the area who bring strong community service and cultural awareness to this activity.
